Pinterest rich pins improve the look of pins from your website, and make them stand out on people’s boards. There are four types of Rich Pins: product, article, app install and recipe.
You’ve probably seen recipes on Pinterest that have a list of ingredients in bold font right there on the pin and you click through to get the method. That’s a rich pin. Most of my rich pins are article pins, which include a snippet of the body of the article and a “read more” button.
The difference between a regular pin and a rich pin on Pinterest:
HOW TO GET PINTEREST RICH PINS ON YOUR BLOG
Getting rich pins is so easy. You just need to get your ducks in a row and Pinterest will do the rest for you.
STEP 1. INSTALL YOAST SEO
If your WordPress site doesn’t already have Yoast installed, install the plugin here.
STEP 2: GET VALIDATED
Go to Pinterest’s Rich Pin Validator and enter a link to any post on your blog. It doesn’t matter which post and you only need to do one.
Click “validate.” By clicking “validate”, you are applying directly to Pinterest to get rich pins. Pinterest will either validate you, or tell you what you need to do in order for rich pins to be enabled from your site.
You’ll then get an email that says: “We’ve approved your rich pin application! Now pins from your website will show extra information based on the tags you’ve added.”
And that’s it! Getting rich pins is so simple and makes such a huge difference to the way users engage with your content. Let me know in the comments how you go and if you have any other questions about rich pins. Thanks for being here! XO
